Each of you will choose a public company for the project that consists of the following three parts produced in PPT (no more than 12 slides):

(1) introduction of the companys business model how the company makes money? (10 points)

(2) discuss the companys cost structure (e.g., product cost and period cost) based on its multiple-year income statements from 10k filing; apply the high-low method (Chapter 1) to decompose one mixed cost (e.g., product cost, period cost, or total operating cost) into fixed cost and variable cost/unit (typically, we use the revenue as the activity level and compute the variable cost/one dollar of revenue). (15 points)

(3) 2-3 additional research topics covered by this class, e.g., risk management, job-order vs process costing, budgeting (pro forma financial statement), segment income (available in 10k filing), ROI analysis, inventory analysis (inventories for raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods are available in manufacturing firms 10k filings), outsourcing decision, balanced score-card, and bottleneck (e.g., supply-chain issue) etc. (15 points)

The final grade will be determined by the above three parts (10, 15, and 15 points, respectively), and the appearance and organization of the PPT (10 points). Please submit the slides via the Assignment of Canvas (late submission will be subject to at least 5 point deduction). To further clarify the slides, I might ask you make a presentation and answer my questions.
