2.1 The Allegory of the Cave is the reflection of an idea byPlato. He describes the human world as a group of persons living ina sunken cave with only a glimpse of sunlight as they watch normallife reside above them. Not knowing everything thing that isapparent to those outside of the cave it would be impossible for ahuman of the cave to venture to the above world and instantly befamiliar with everything around him and everything he saw. It wouldtake time and getting familiar with those things. And in retrospectcould that person return to the cave and say he was as good atliving in the cave in which they stayed as those that never wentoutside.

This allegory was Plato’s explanation to the need for a sense ofunderstanding of a Form of good that can be found in the world ofknowledge. To find this good one must one must first identifythemselves as willing to search for it. “But whether true or false,my opinion is that in the world of knowledge the Form of the Goodappears last of all, and is seen only with an effort.” (Plato,2018). After finding the form of good a person can envisionthemselves as a part of a good reality that knows the form of goodto acquire a more fulfilling wisdom. And until then they could notbecome wise.

I returned to cave that I had not been back to for a long timewhen I was visiting my high school. There was a lot that hadchanged since I had been there before. Except for the location itwas completely different with new buildings and more classrooms. The students also tend to seem a lot younger than they did when Iwas a student there. The behavior of the students was a lotdifferent also. As time passes the way a school evolves says a lotabout how much more students are capable of in later generationscompared to prior ones.
