Gated devices means sequential circuits almost work like a gate like combinational circuts ie level sensitive devices based on 1 or 0 at clk it worksexample Latches Edge triggered means these sequential circuits will change state when there transition between 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 on clock Ex flipflops The difference between a latch and a flipflop is that a latch is leveltriggered outputs can change as soon as the inputs changes and FlipFlop is edge triggered only changes state when a control signal goes from high to low or low to high Latches are something in your design which always needs attention There are tools that help designers pinpoint existence of latches in their design as must know information And then it is the designers responsibility to correct if the latch usage is unintentional as this could easily have happened due to poor RTL coding practices Once the latch existence is acknowledged at synthesis level then the downstream tools follow those conventions This statement is    See Answer
