Barely Visible Impact Damage (BVID) is the name given to damage in a composite material caused by a low-velocity impact from objects during maintenance or operation. Such objects can be dropped tools or runway debris. Low-velocity impacts cause only minor damage to the surface of the composite, which is generally not readily detectable by visual inspection, hence the term BVID.

However, they can be improved by avoiding delamination, matrix cracking, fibre fracture and fibre pullout. Reiinforcement material should be impact absorbing and its strength should be high comparatively to improve BVID resistance. By use of high tensile strength fibres, we can improve BVID resisitance.
