Mechanical Engineering

Under normal operation, a dairy plant requires 4 kg/s ofsaturated steam at 2 MPa, which is extracted from the turbine of acogeneration plant. Steam enters the turbine at 8 MPa and 500 ºC ata rate of 11 kg/s and leaves at 20 kPa. The extracted steam leavesthe process heater as a saturated liquid and mixes with thefeedwater at the constant pressure. The mixture is then pumped tothe boiler pressure. Determine. (a) the rate of process heatsupplied, (b) the net power output and utilization factor for thisoperating condition, (c) the maximum process heat that thiscogeneration plant can supply, (d) the net power output when thereis no need for process heat.
