Although I understand where John Bowers is coming from instriving for perfection, I cannot totally say I agree with him100%. He have brought up if the Webster's dictionary was only 99.9%accurate, there would be like 470 misspell words in it, that inwhich I understand. However, given the example of a doctor onlybeing 99.9% correct, all these consequences would happen. Thematter of the fact is that there will be no one, no doctor that is100% correct , but yes, I do agree that we all should strive forperfection. Nevertheless, what if they fail on the way, does thatmean they were not aiming for perfection? That's based onperspective and opinions.
We all view perfection differently, one can tell someone isreally doing their best at the job and fail on the way and anothercan see a messed up, impotent person because they failed on theway. If we are to push for the term PERFECTION, and saying tryingour best is not good enough, many individual would suffer if theywere to fail aiming to do their best. What if we do encouragetrying our very best? What I respect about what Jon was saying isthat \"we're more comfortable resting on our efforts than we arewith focusing on our results.\" This basically showed me a whole newperspective which I should take into account because it is true.Trying our best is indeed vital but our best is not yet when ouroutcome is not completed or where it should be. That's when tryinga different approach or reaching out to help comes in. Thus, I doagree with Jon with this point, especially when he reminded us thatwe are not perfect people, thus we will fail, but we should not letfailure hinder ourselves from striving for perfection.
