The research showcase requires you to research a topic relatedto the course and will require you to incorporate at least threecritical, scholarly sources related to the text or readings youhave selected as the basis for your study. Other types of sourcesmay be used in addition to the scholarly works.
Topic ideas:
- a Chicanx individual (you may build on the research you did foryour Chingona Highlight)
- a collection of works (plays, poetry, artwork, murals, publicart installations)
- a collective of scholars or activists (queeranderismo/joteriascholars, Las Hijas de Cuauhtemoc, etc)
- or a particular historical event or time period (first Chicanafeminist conference, Chicana Movement, Adelitas - women in theMexican Revolution, gender in Aztec Civilizations, Chicanas inSocial Media/Digital Activism, etc)
- compelling themes/issues (curanderas, media representations,policy makers, etc)
Additional Requirements:
Format/Medium: This assignment requires you topresent your findings in a way that is viewable online andaccessible to our peers (e.g. Instagram page, mock website, blog,powerpoint, google docs, video, prezi, etc).
Length: Length of projects will vary dependingon the medium you choose to present your findings. Equate it to anin-class presentation of 10 minutes. Use your best judgement Onaverage that would be a minimum of 5 slides if you used powerpoint.For an instagram page, it varies depending on how you layout yourcaptions.
