Rather than titrating the active ingredient in an antaciddirectly with a standard solution of a strong acid in our buret, inthis experiement we first dissolve the antacid tablet in a measuredexcess of standard acid, and then titrate (with standard sodiumhydroxide solution) the portion of the acid that was not consumedby the tablet.
