· Showing thatthe team-oriented, interdepartmental disciplines at SDSU possessthe tenacity and know-how to build and race a solar-powered vehiclein the World Solar Challenge Race in Austrailia next year;
· Define andarticulate how this business team expects to promote and generatethe necessary support; funds, and materials from the student body,alumni, community and local businesses to sieze and executive thisopportunity.
Project Profile
The Suntrakker Solar Car project was conceived by a small groupof San Diego State University engineering students motivated by thesuccess of the General motors “Sunrayce,” committed itself todesigning and building a superior solar-powered vehicle to competein the world Solar Challenge.
From modest Beginnings, the Suntrakker project quickly revolvedinto a cross-disciplinary educational effort encompassing studentsfrom many colleges of San Diego State University. The project hasprovided students participants and volunteers with valuablereal-life experiences and has brought them together in an effortthat benefits not only the students and the university but also theenvironment.
Sponsors of this project are not only contributing to thesuccessful achievement of the overall Suntrakker project but willalso enhance their goodwill, advertising, and name promotion byassociation with the project. In addition, the Suntrakker offers aunique opportunity for the companies who can donate parts andaccessories to showcase their name and test field their products inpublic in this highly publicized international contest.
