Ans :- Equilibrium concentration of CO2 = 0.11997 M

Explanation :-

The ICE table for the given reaction is :

.......................NiO(s)............+.......................CO(g) <-----------> Ni(s)..............+.................CO2(g)

Initial (I)..........................................................0.12000 M....................................................0.0 M

Change (C).......................................................- y...............................................................+ y

Equilibrium (E).............................................(0.12000-y) M....................................................y M

y = Number of moles dissociated per mole = ?

Expression of equilibrium constant i.e. Kc for the given reaction is :

Kc = [CO2 (g)] / [CO(g)]

NOTE :- Concentration of pure liquids and solids are considered as constant while writing the expression of Kc.

4000.0 = y / (0.12000-y)

y = 480 - 4000.0 y

4001 y = 480

y = 0.11997 M

Hence, equilibrium concentration of CO2 = y = 0.11997 M
