The limbic system is responsible for the functioning of memories
and emotions in the brain. Various parts of the limbic system are
located within the cerebrum. The areas of the cerebrum that are
critical to the limbic system's function are cingulate
gyrus/cortex, amygdala, and hippocampus
Cingulate gyrus/cortex: It is involved in emotional and
cognitive processing
Amygdala: It impacts the functions of the brain involving the
understanding of nonverbal emotions, emotional control, and
responses.
Hippocampus: Help with memory and learning
Hypothalamus: They regulate the level of various emotions felt
by an individual.
Fornix: It is a nerve fiber pathway that transfers cognitive
information through the cerebral hemisphere
