Bad News Scenario
You are the Senior Course Convenor at Elite Education overseeingthe 30 different language courses it offers for both students andworking adults. Your language courses include English, French, andSpanish. These courses are very popular with learners because allcurricula are designed by your team of experts and learningmaterials are produced in-house. However, you have just received aresignation letter, from the English Curriculum Leader, Dr AmyShaw, who has been with Elite for 15 years. There has been rumourthat she might bring a couple of popular teaching staff in her teamto become partners with another education centre which is yourdirect competitor.
The leaving of Dr Shaw and possibly her team members willseriously jeopardize Elite Education’s position as the leadingeducation centre in the territory. More importantly, you mustensure that the courses designed by her remain the property ofElite.
Your Task
Write a persuasive email to the Managing Director, Prof. JohnnyEnglish, in the name of Angela Lung. You should inform him of thisbad news, explaining the situation as well as suggesting ways ofsolving the problems so that the impact of the resignation of DrShaw can be minimized and that the intellectual property of Elitewill be protected. You must provide justification for what yousuggest and persuade the Managing Director to accept yoursuggestions and to approve extra resources that may be needed.
