Kevin is the power forward for the pro basketball team, the Connecticut Hoopers. He gets a check once a month. This month, Kevin uses his phone to deposit the check in his bank, Webster Bank. Webster presents the check to People's Bank; the check to Kevin from the Hoopers is from People's Bank. Kevin leaves the paper check on the table of the living room of his apartment and then goes out in order to practice shooting free throws.

Meanwhile, Kevin's roommate Kyrie finds Kevin's check on the table and thinks it would be funny to go cash the check. After thinking it over some more, Kyrie has a better idea. Since he, Kyrie, owes his classmate James some money, he asks James to come over. Kyrie has lost a bet with James over who would be MVP of the league last year, him or James. However, Kyrie has won a bet with Kevin over who would sit out more games. Therefore, Kyrie presents the check to James after endorsing it in Kevin's name. Kyrie tells James that James should take the money in satisfaction of Kyrie's debt to James. James agrees to do so. James then goes downstairs to a Griffin & Jordan, a check-cashing place, and cashes the check. Accordingly, Griffin & Jordan then send the check for payment to their bank, Santander. Santander presents the check to People's Bank.
