Cases: Case 1: Mr. D. is a 28-year-old single man who lives in alarge city and works as a delivery truck driver. He is NativeAmerican. He was just diagnosed with diabetes and will be insulindependent. He is very close with his family and likes to eat thefoods from his culture. His sister has diabetes as does his mother.They both do not need insulin and do not manage their diabetes verywell. Mr. D. is overweight but not obese. His typical form ofrecreation is to go to ball games and family picnics. He is also amoderate drinker; mostly beer and wine. He usually does not go tothe doctor but did this time because he was feeling iller as themonths had passed. He is not happy with the diagnosis and all thathe will have to do such as change his diet, exercise, learn how togive himself insulin, etc.
