In the image below, you have a before and after case.. Initially q1 and q2 are closer together (top image). The charge q1 is being held stationary and is not allowed to move. But q2 is released and allowed to move. In the final image you can see where q2 has moved after being released. Look at the Initial set up and the Final set up. Is the change in the Kinetic Energy of q2 positive or negative? Make sure to think about the signs of the charges and their relative distances.
