In PC Techs product mix problem (Example 3.1), assume there is another PC model, the VXP, that the company can produce in addition to Basics and XPs. Each VXP requires eight hours of for assembling, three hours for testing, $275 for component parts, and sells for $560. At most 50 VXPs can be sold.
Modify the spreadsheet model to include this new product. Force the optimal solution to be integers. Do this in Solver by adding a new constraint. Select the decision variable cells for the left side of the constraint, and in the middle dropdown list, select the int option. Run the Solver. What is your optimal solution?
1. Range names
2. Color codes for input variables (blue), decision variables (red) and cell with the optimal solution (grey).
3. State the constraints in the spreadsheet model
4. All parameters and constrains must be correctly specified in the solver.
5. Correct optimal solution.
