hello, please tell me what you think about my twi discussionpost about intelligence
DISCUSSION 1
I believe genes do not determine intelligence. Intelligence andgenes have very little to do with one another. Genes are what giveus our traits such as; eye color and hair color. Knowledge andinformation develop and grows over time. As an example, twointelligent parents have two children, one that goes to school andone that does not. The child that can develop and learn regularlythrough the school will be more intelligent than the one withoutschooling. Learning at young ages helps develop each part of thebrain as the brain grows. So without a stimulating learningenvironment, certain parts of the brain would not develop as wellas if the child was in school. Also, if two parents were not ableto go to school themselves, but send their children to school tolearn, the children would be able to gain intelligence just likeeveryone else. Teachers, parents, and policymakers need tounderstand that a person's intelligence is not one-sided. Childrenneed to be able to grow in a stimulating environment so they canlearn and become intelligent adults. Also, each child is different. So a school may help one child, but the same school may not be anenriching environment for other's needs.
DISCUSION 2
Through a series of conversations alongside multiple readings,it is unfair to state that ones intelligence is solelypre-determined through genetics. Our genes have proven to be a partof the way one consumes knowledge, but this knowledge should not belimited to a capacity as a result of genetic makeup; rather, it isimportant to analyze the environment and willingness of anindividual to obtain knowledge. The brain is one of the mostcomplex organs, its ability to create stronger neural pathways asit learns new things proves that is is possible to alwaysstrengthen ones intelligence. As a result of this, some havegreater accessibility to obtaining a better education with greaterresources, and stable households that foster a learningenvironment; ultimately, some individuals are placed at a greateradvantage than those who do not have the same accessibility.
This information is vital for educators and mentors because itis necessary that people look at individuals holistically, ratherthan establishing an opinion on an individuals intelligence basedon their genetic makeup. For example, if intelligence was solelybased off of genetics, society would have never been able toadvance intellectually. Over time and generations, society has beenable to progress forward and so can humans intellectualability.
