7805 is a three terminal linear voltage regulator IC with afixed output voltage of 5V which is useful in a wide range ofapplicationsthe circuit is as shown belowthe pin description is as belowWorkingthere is a significant difference between the input voltage andoutput voltage of voltage regulator This difference between theinput and output voltage is released as heat The greater thedifference between input and output voltage more the heat isgenerated If the regulator does not have a heat sink to dissipateheat it can get destroyed and malfunction7805 is not very    See Answer
