Delivering a Persuasive MessageGrade Appeal

Many business messages require persuasion. One example of a persuasive message is a grade appeal. It is very important for a student to understand the audience when preparing a plan or strategy for a grade appeal. It is not just the content of the message that is important. The communication medium, the tone of the message, the setting of the message, and many other aspects of the message are essential for its success, including the presentation of supporting evidence.

It is also important to be prepared to negotiate and to accept a compromise. Several alternative solutions should be considered ahead of time.

you will do the following:

Define and describe a scenario where a grade appeal would be necessary. This can come from an actual experience, or it can be made up.

Prepare a plan for your message. This can involve both oral and written communication. Be sure to include your method of communicating in your plan. And a list of possible supporting evidence for your persuasive argument.

Prepare a draft your message.

Post this in the designated discussion board and then provide comments on at least one other grade appeal.

Finally, identify a list of items that you should never say to a professor when presenting an argument to appeal a grade.
