In order to avoid such a problem, many companies develop an e-policy, of which social media policy is a part. A Social Media Policy is a guidebook or code-of-conduct for employees posting on social media. As employees have their own social media accounts, a company cannot indicate what they must post. However, managers can provide reasonable guidelines of what employees should not post about (e.g. confidential data) and provide any potential disciplinary actions if their posts affect a companys image (e.g. derogatory comments).
