1. After analyzing the research in the book, I went ahead andtested the results in my work. I work in a shipping department werethe amount of women and men are the same. My observations fellwithin the stereotype because women talked more than men by keepinga prolonged conversation. They usually tend to do a short statementand go into detail ending with a whole different topic. I saw thatthere was a lot of interrupting when women were talking since theywould ask work questions all of the sudden and go back to theconversation topic after that. On the other hand, men would onlymake small statements or questions and retrieve from theconversation once they got an answer. Moreover, I observed thewomen at work and myself use a lot of tag questions.

2.) During my daily conversations with my friends and after payingattention to conversations around me I observed that women spendmore time talking in conversations than men do. Almost all myanecdotal observations matched the research in the book. I did seethat woman do tend to be politer when conversating. I also noticedthat women have a tendency of adding more tag questions and hedgeswhen conversating. Women would tend to interrupt more in theconversations compared to men. The investigation done in the bookobserved the opposite, men would interrupt more than women. Myexperience with this observation is interesting because I was ableto compare my observation compared to the research in the book.
