Gender differences in dream content are well documented(see Winget & Kramer, 1979). Suppose a researcher studiesaggression content in the dreams of men and women. Each participantreports his or her most recent dreams. Then each dream is judged bya panel of experts to have low, medium, or high aggression content.The observed frequencies are shown in the followingmatrix:

2. Using Table 15.6 from your textbook as a model,create a frequency distribution matrix for this data set. Determinethe observed and expected frequencies for this dataset.

3. Write out the formula for degrees of freedom.Calculate degrees of freedom for this data set.

4. Determine the critical value from Appendix B in yourtextbook.

5. Compute a Chi-Square Test of Independence, use an ?=.05. Include the Chi-Square result and the significance value(e.g., ?2 (1, n=200) = …., p < .05)

6. Would we use Cramer’s V or Phi-Coefficient todetermine effect size for this data set? Use the test you justdetermined to find effect size for this data set.
