Case Study: Children and Youth
Ms. Case Study-Youth is a 14-year-old high school student whoweighs 58 kg and is 157.5 cm tall. She is an apparently healthygirl who recently had a significant reduction in her physicalactivity level and started to gain weight. She was a gymnastthrough middle school but because of the excessive time commitmentto compete at a high level, she decided not to continue gymnasticsas she entered high school. Due to her previous experience insport, she is considered physically literate and has a decentmovement vocabulary. She spends most of her time hanging out withfriends and using electronic devices. Ms. Case Study-Youth recentlystarted running 15 minutes per day with her father after school andhopes to join the cross country team in the fall. As part of herphysical education curriculum, she recently participated in theFITNESSGRAM test battery. Her results are listed below:

Ms. Case Study-Youth plans to improve her aerobiccapacity and body composition over the next few months as well asmaintain her muscular fitness (strength, endurance, andflexibility). She enjoys being social with her friends, so she islooking to participate in group activities.
