The aquarium contains sea water (Specific Gravity 1.025), andthe highest point of the glass wall lies 8 metres below the watersurface. If a section of the glass wall is 2.5 metres in radius and10 metres long, determine the magnitude and direction of the forceexerted on the section.

vol of water above glass wall = cross-section of wall * height of water on class wall

                                        = Pie * r^2 * h

                                        =ss/7 * (2.5)^2 * 8 = 157.142

Weight of water above glass wall   =   vol * specific gravity * g

                                                  =   157.142 * 1.025 *9.8   =   161.07 * 9.8   =   1578.486 N

= magnitude of force ofwater above glass wall on glass wall

Force will act in downward direction on glass wall .
