mass of CH3OH is X

no of moles of CH3OH n1 = X/32

mass of CH3-CH2-OH is X

no of moles of CH3-CH2-OH n2 = X/46

Total no of moles = n1+ n2

                        = X/32+ X/46 = 46X+ 32X/1472

                      = 78X/1472 = 0.053X

mole fraction of CH3OH = n1/n1+n2

                                   = X/32/0.053X

                                  = 0.59

mole fraction of CH3OH+ mole fraction of CH3-CH2-OH = 1

mole fraction of CH3-CH2-OH = 1-0.59 = 0.41
