A road of formation width 12 m is to be constructed with sideslopes of 1 vertical to 2 horizontal in cut and 1 vertical to 3horizontal in fill. The existing ground surface has a cross fall of1 vertical to 8 horizontal and it will intersect the formation 1.5m to the left of the center line and 1.0 m to the right of thecenter line at two cross sections 20 m apart. Calculate the areasrelated to the cut and fill at the two sections. Hence calculatethe outstanding volume of cut or fill remaining after theestablishment of the formation between the two sections.
