The tow vehicle is moving5km/hr and takes up the slack in the rope which results in a suddenload being applied to the rope. The tow vehicle has a mass of1.8tonnes and the car being towed is initially stationary. If thetowing vehicle is instantly slowed to 0.5km/hr by the shock load,(E=2GPa for the rope) determine:
a) The maximum stress induced in the rope. b) The maximum extensionof the rope.
c) The factor of safety if the UTS of the rope is 220MPa
