62 year old male admitted into hospital with a historyof colicky abdominal pain associated with increasing ascites andjaundice. liver function at this time was markedly abnormal with abilirubin of 257, INR 2.4, Albumin 23.
Clinical signs were of hepatic encephalopathy with marked ascites.several litres of fluid were drained and a culture isolatedpseudomonas sp. he was treated with antibiotics but continued todeteriorate and also developed renal failure due to hepatorenalsyndrome. unfortunately, he died 6 days after admission.
