3.12. A rectangular coil of wire is suspended in a uniformradial magnetic field of induction 0.05 T, the field lines beinghorizontal. The coil consists of 400 turns of wire each of height 2cm and width 1 cm. If a current of 1 mA is passed through the coil,calculate:-

(a) the force acting on unit length of the wire in one of thevertical sides of the coil;

(b) the total force on one vertical side of the coil;

(c) the total force on one horizontal side of the coil,

(d) the torque experienced by the coil.

If the suspension is elastic and a torque of 10-5 Nm is requiredto produce an angular displacement of one radian, find the angulardisplacement of the coil due to a current of 1 mA. Draw neatdiagrams in order to clarify the results obtained in the aboveparts.
