1a) Carry out a baseline energy audit to come up with anappliance power matrix of your household
giving the type of appliances, quantity and power rating ofappliances that can be powered by a
solar system.
b) Estimate appliance usage times in a calendar day (diurnal) tocome up with an appliance time of
use scheduling matrix for your household.
c) Calculate the daily load (kWh) and peak power (kW) required andplot the load profile of your
household.
d) Hence or otherwise design a Stand-alone semi integrated PVsystem using PV Syst that aims to
meet the daily energy requirements for your home. You may use sitedependent detailed losses,
horizon shadings and economic parameters of your choice. Clearlystate all assumptions.
e) Use the software HOMER to carry out optimal sizing (based onleast cost of energy) of a hybrid
renewable energy system comprising of a solar PV array, a dieselgenerator, storage battery, inverter
and AC & DC load for your home. NB: Use prevailing countryspecific economic parameters and
discount rates. Make logical assumptions where necessary.
f) Comment and contrast your results of part d and e
