Hays agreed with the scheme and came back with a friend who was 23. Quality sold the car to Hays's friend. Quality then gave Hays the name of a notary public who would transfer the title to Hays. After the transfer was accom- plished, Hays's father found out about the deal and tried to get Quality Motors to take the car back.
