   Before dilution                                              After dilution

   M1    = M M2 = 2.5M

V1    = 10ml    V2   = 50ml

   M1V1 = M2V2

M1   = M2V2/V1

                    = 2.5*50/10

= 12.5M

volume of water = V2-V1   = 50-10 = 40ml

   M1    = 7.5M M2 = 3M

V1    = 5ml V2

   M1V1 = M2V2

V2    = M1V1/M2

= 7.5*5/3          = 12.5ml

volume of water = V2-V1 = 12.5 -5 = 7.5ml
